Staying Motivated During Covid

Staying Motivated During Covid

I’m having a really hard time staying motivated.

I think I hear that sentence at least once a day from dancers.

It’s a weird time where we have had to modify our usual monotonous schedule of going to the studio and taking class.

How in the world do you even stay motivated to take class and improve on yourself when you’re taking ballet on carpet with your makeshift couch barre.

Honestly, I don’t know.

I stopped dancing right before the pandemic but I know for a fact that I would have had the same daily battle with motivation.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED ballet. I devoted my whole life to it like all of you. But when you’re home in a place where you’re conditioned to relax, it gets a little hard.

As I stepped away from dancing the past year and gave myself some time sort out my thoughts, I’ve found ways to inspire myself. And I want to come on here to help all of you to stay motivated while we slowly get back on our feet.

Os here is today’s motivation advice:

You hear people writing their goals, journaling and meditating. That’s all amazing. If you can do it and stick to it, keep it.

But if you’re like me, those habits last maybe for a week.

So here is my advice.

Keep a schedule. Be organized with your time. Write out a schedule down to the minute, if you have to.

Wake up with an alarm.

Create a morning routine and stick to it.

Get your day started right. What is something that you do in the morning that ensures you to have a productive day?

For example: for me, I’ve learned that to ensure myself to have a productive day, I have to exercise in the morning. Getting my heart rate up, sweating out toxins and having time to manifest my life is the best way for me inspired for the day.

So if it’s exercise, meditation, reading or simply scrolling through social media, implement these things into your morning routine of success.

I always love seeing other morning routines everyone has created because it gives me new ideas to add to mine.

So in hopes to inspire you, here is my current morning routine of success:

7:30AM Wake up

7:45AM scroll through missed emails/social media/notifications

8:00AM Make my bed, wash my face, brush my teeth and change into comfortable clothing (But not your PJs!!)

8:15AM Feed my cats and make coffee

8:20AM Make to-do list for the day

8:30AM Go to the Gym

10:00AM Shower

10:45AM A light protein filled breakfast (I usually make a protein shake or have a probiotic drink)

11:00AM Start my day and get to work!
